Giving it 5 to increase the overall score, I’d actually give a it a 4.5…. Was an amazing film, honestly more memorable than the second one. Does not cut down on ANY of the tension from either of the previous films, was possibly the most tense. Whilst it doesn’t give any answers to things like where the aliens came from (which shouldn’t have been expected anyway as it’s called ‘Day One’) it paints a beautiful picture of the relationship between the two main characters, strangers finding each other at what seems to be the end of the world. The dynamic between them is very heartfelt and Joseph Quinn’s performance is very convincing. You can really feel his fear. Whilst it does not exactly add to the other 2 films, it still very much succeeds in creating a very tense and very engaging watch that is AT LEAST worthy of 4/5.
