I have been a huge Dan Brown fan since Grade 5. I started with "The da Vinci Code" and read all the Robert Langdon classics eventually. For some reason, I missed this book and finally read it in my second year of college. I enjoyed reading the first half of the book, I really liked the storyline and the concept. As someone who is not super religious but still believes in God, I was excited to see where the storyline goes and see the collaboration between Science and God. But the book became a little repetitive and annoying towards the end with a great number of action scenes and lots of fighting. I was hoping that the book would focus more on the hunt and decoding the art of Bernini but it became a little too action based and it was hard to finish the book. The plot twist in the end was good but also a little far fetched and a lot of things felt unexplained, like how did Janus convince the Hassassin to be recruited and how did he lie to them? Personally this was my least favorite book in the series.

I read the book in my second year of college and I think that the book is severely overrated. I was recommended this book my many female friends and I was super hyped up to read it but it turned out to be very mediocre. It was fairly clear to me that the husband was not involved in the disappearance and the diary was not entirely true since the beginning. Amy was definitely smart, well planned and strategic but that doesn't excuse the fact that she is downright a terrible, spoiled person who is willing to go to any extent to get what she wants. Nick was a terrible husband but I still believe that Amy was the actual villain in the book. My negative opinion about Amy started forming after reading what she did to the other people in her lives, like her childhood friend Susan, Desi and the truck driver. Up until then, I was rooting for Amy to win. All in all, I found the book very predictable apart from the going back to Nick and the end. I did like the cool girl monologue though.
