For a show that premiered in ‘99, it has very current themes and progressive ideas. Gay characters, cheating, addiction, racial identity issues, compassionate and smart comments on sexual assault, problems with power dynamic issues in sexual relationships among adult students and professors, and a lot more. When you’re watching a show from 25 years ago you might assume that it wouldn’t be advanced enough for kids nowadays but it holds up surprisingly well as being pretty advanced for its time. Plus Keri Russell is a fantastic actor. They did the weird time travel thing in the last season that always confused me but aside from that, it was comical, sweet and dealt with many important themes. I recommend watching or rewatching.
