The game is fun. This game takes what works with previous titles and polished them to an impressive level. The story and characters have actual personality. The new Pokemon are super creative and fun. And the new mechanics are engaging. A lot of people have been comparing the graphics of this game to others arguing that it makes the game less fun, but not every game needs to look like real life. This game is stylized to the max! Every inch of the game world is crawling with personality. Not to mention the music! So many Pokémon games in the past have either just used the same tunes from the original or created half-hearted forgettable songs. But this game takes the original themes and adds new life to them! Not only are there some gems from the past, but some bops that genuinely enriched the experience. I’d rate this game 4/5, with the inclusion of the complete National Dex this could have been a masterpiece. But it’s understandable that including the National Dex in every Pokémon game AND making new fun Pokémon is unsustainable.
