I watched the first three episodes then skipped to the last one as I found myself shouting at the TV several times. Both of the main characters were completely self-centered - Alice because she kept pushing Jack away and then just turning up at random intervals to reclaim him, and Jack because he threw away a perfectly good wife and family to be with someone who broke his heart regularly. They just didn’t seem believable. Waste of time for me.

Couldn’t get past the first 20 minutes.

This show started out with promise, but quickly devolved into a very loose retelling of the book. At times it was almost laughable to watch some of the scenes, and Mark Ruffalo’s accent was cringeworthy. This bears very little resemblance to the book - such a disappointment.

Absolute rubbish - defies belief that these two actresses would be involved in this garbage movie.

Cate Blanchett is indeed a gifted actor, but this movie was just awful. Dark (literally), lots of unintelligible dialog, and sudden scene changes with not even a hint of what’s going on. I watched it because of the Oscar buzz, and split it into two viewings, but was very disappointed and annoyed by another so-called artsy movie. Really, what was the point? It certainly wasn’t entertaining.

I was born in Tottenham, North London. This was Disappointing and almost “Keystone Cops” like in its scenes. Even the acting seemed stilted and unbelievable. The BBC usually does such a good job, but they missed the mark with this one. I kept hoping it would get better - sadly it did not.

Having read the book I thought this a very sanitized version of what abused and/or homeless women endure. The characters, especially the whacky annoying grandmother, seemed more like caricatures than real people, and I can’t imagine a 3 year old that never has a temper tantrum. This could have been dealt with in 4 or 5 episodes and after 4 episodes I skipped to the last one. I work within an organization that tries to help homeless women - this is not their reality.

Hilariously funny and such a fun series to watch.
