I didn't see this movie as that understanding. The actors were great. I went to the movie to see Angela Jolie. It seems that her actress rating is determined by her ability to sell movies to fans. She is a money maker. She is also a good actress but I did not see much point in her roll. Gemma Chan character the best. This movie was merely made to create a Star Wars like Hollywood dynasty. The fans are supposed to scrutinize the complexity of the movie by continue patronize the newly created dynasty. The eternals are a great idea, because it brings up the idea of a person living forever. The desire for sprite to live and convert from an eternal to a conventional life does not convey to me a deep interest in the goodness of human existence. I go to movies for entertainment. Acting in plays goes back to ancient times. I guess for the viewers it is an escape from the doldrums of human existence. I didn't much like the French dispatch. I do believe that the acting business is very important to life and it is a form of freedom of speech and expression and a conveyance of distributing good will among people. It also can be used for hateful propaganda like Goebbels used it. I was flabbergasted that the eternals made $37 million dollars. My choice if entertainment has no merit at all, I simply go to the movies that for some reason attract my interests. I prefer Sharon's Stones movie "The quick and the dead' to "Basic Instinct 1" as a form of escapism.
