This game is just amazing, and I can’t express that enough. The giant open world, the story, the blades (I’ll get to that later) and the hundreds of hours of content. I am almost to 100 hrs in and still haven’t completed the main story.
The open world is just begging to be explored. All the enemies, side quests, treasure, and a stunning scenery. Each world doesn’t seem to forceful to be put in, and I was always on the edge of my seat on what world might be waiting for me. You can explore these areas for hours, and they are also set on giant titans each wonder the cloud sea.
The story is amazing as well. DO NOT skip the cutscenes (you will see why later). It has joy, grief, and all in between. One minute you have to fight giant monsters while the next your sobbing over your favorite characters death (I’m not saying who dies, you have to play it to find out ;) )
The blades and combat are confusing, yet thrilling all in one. Blades are immortal creatures that give you powers in battle. The can unlock them via core crystals, a common tool you can find all in through the beautiful world. There are common blades, and rare blades. Rare blades are unsurprisingly, rare and the common blades don’t stand a chance next to them. There are 27, which might not seem like a lot to some people, but with the things you can do with them, it truly is a perfect amount. Each has an affinity chart you can level up by trust or some other source. It takes maybe about a few hours to level the affinity chart up, but is worth it nonetheless.
The drivers are the five main characters in the game. You equip these blades (except one which uses artificial blades) to these characters to make them powerful during battle. Sack driver is unique in their own way, with personality galore. They also have affinity charts, but are WAY harder to level up. When you equip a blade to a driver, it gets a handful of attacks that you can use.
I was just scratching the surface with this game. It is a beautiful, wonderful game you won’t regret playing. Definitely the best game on the switch that doesn’t get enough credit. So if you’re interested in an amazing JRPG, than this is it.
(Edit: Sry if there is any typos. Have a good day! :) )
(Edit edit: The music is just an amazing aspect. All tracks fit the scenery perfectly. To Gormotts forestry landscape to Tantals snowy climate, the music fits those perfectly. Easily one of if not my favorite video game OST)
