Tom Hanks acted and directed this movie and it’s a 1960’s period piece, so I thought naturally I would love it. However, there was no stakes raised in the story, hardly any conflict or even just a smidgen of drama. It was all a bunch of kids hopping from one gig to the next, they play a song, go to a club, play another song, and this repeats itself over and over again for the next 2 hours… better put, it’s boring. The only slight challenge that’s offered in this story, is the main character’s curmudgeon father. Also, it’s set in the 1960’s, exactly what were they doing with Walkman cassettes , when they weren’t invented until 1979?
Sorry Tom Hanks, guess they all can’t be winners.
