I like that they made a sequel to this movie and I really love the idea, the cast and I love everything Ramsey Nouah, but, there are so many problems with the delivery that made it difficult for me to enjoy the movie no matter how much I love the idea.
The writing was all over the place and a lot of the time cringe-worthy and horrible, even immature at times.
Although it featured a lot of good actors, the acting was horrifying in many scenes, very cringy and disgraceful. The actors were terrible at displaying emotions right, and some of the conversations were dry and uninteresting.
The editing may have just been the worst aspect. From horrible transitions to all in your face jump cuts. The only enjoyable edit was the display of powers and even that was cringy at times.
The directing could have been better and Ramsey Nouah although a well-established actor portrayed very unenjoyable acting skills and he was supposed to be the director? That explains why the acting was terrible for the other actors as well.
The poverty scene only took the plot so far as they never revisited that part of the story after he became wealthy. I believe it's customary for children to return to their parents in the village with gifts after gaining wealth in the city but that never happened. He completely forgot all about them and we never saw them again.
The main character who had just started his business surprisingly acquired a big enough fortune in such a short time, thus, enabling him to juggle luxury cars in-between scenes. He was never seen driving the same car twice which was not only unrealistic for someone who had just started a business, but also unnecessary. All it did was allow the movie to show flex about featuring such expoensive cars; a great waste.
When the main character went to see Richard to convince him to take back the deal, he said Richard should take him instead of his love which didn't make sense. The deal was to kill your love or die yourself so if he had no problem giving his life up for the love of his life, he didn't have to worry about anything. He would have died and she would have been free. He should have been relieved. But they dragged the movie on unnecessarily even though according to the rules, it should have resolved itself at that point.
The on-screen romance could not be felt. It feels as though it is there because he had to have a female lead not because their romance was relevant or even crucial to the storyline. It is easily forgotten and not relevant in any way. Without the romance, the story would have still had the same ending, really. The relationship did not lead him into occultism and it did not lead him to stab himself instead of his brother. It wasn't relevant at all!!
Do people in Nigeria actually read blogs or care what a blogger thinks?
I don't see why a no-name blogger's expose should gain enough attention that it is used as the conclusion to the story or the resolution that brings the downfall of the big names in the six.
Also, He didn't need a respirator when he was stabbed. It was completely uncalled for and shows how bad the writing and direction was. His lungs were in no way affected and if he really did need it, he wouldn't have taken it off when his visitors walked in. That made no sense.
The ending was predictable but enjoyable still and i take it as the only part of the movie that deserves a star. It ended on a cliff hanger and should make viewers hungry for more. We'll see..
I genuinely expected more from Ramsey Nouah and I'm greatly disappointed with this movie.
