I’m sorry but is Disney paying people to review this movie?? I have never eye-rolled during a movie before tonight. What a DISAPPOINTMENT! The set was hideous! I can not fathom why or how Disney of all studios would allow a movie to look this bad. More like a made for TV movie from the late 90’s, with some cool CGI. Speaking of CGI, was I the only one who noticed how fake the city looked? I mean you could literally see the miniature set they used. Go back and watch again if you missed it. It’s sad. What’s supposed to be a “drone shot” over looking the palace and city, is an obvious miniature set. How did that get an okay? Especially for the same people who made the Marvel Universe flicks we all love. Even the lighting was off in so many parts.
Guy Ritchie really missed his mark on this one. It’s almost as if he was trying too hard not to let the actors become these characters that we know. Either that or those actors were terrible for these roles. Okay so some “look” like their animated counterparts, but that doesn’t mean they are perfect for the part. And Jafar? What the hell is that? The guy had no spark. Nothing. Nada. This is a character that we, and that characters should fear. Really? That guy had no villain in him whatsoever. His voice was even quite the opposite of what it should be. I’m almost positive the dad of Jasmine, the Sultan, would of made a better Jafar.
I’m actually surprised about Will Smiths Genie. It was pretty good. He basically was the whole movie. Good job Will.
Oh and one of the biggest parts Of Aladdin that everyone remembers from the original... the giant snake. So you could imagine how disappointing it was during that scene. You know, when Jafar asks to be a powerful sorcerer and then turns himself into a giant snake... and then it never happens!!! WHY? Why would you not put the best part that movie could have been, into the film? That alone could of saved this garbage of a movie. Except the music would also need to be replaced. Thinking that the strings of an Arabic Oud guitar would be a sly, artsy move, was quite literally the worst idea ever. Can we say Lifetime movie? Cause that’s exactly what the music sounded like.
Don’t waste your time. Just watch the original at home.
Oh wait! The guards... could you not find bigger guard looking type of Middle Eastern men to play those roles? Come on. I couldn’t believe any of it.
I love you Disney.. but this was a DISASTER
