This show says more about America and "American culture" than it does about Egyptian or Arab or Muslim culture. Ramy is a lost soul. How did he get like that? The simple answer is, he grew up in the super sex-obsessesed soul-less culture of modern-day New Jersey. The only thing Ramy thinks could fix or save him is if he embraces Islam, marries the Sheik's daughter and becomes a "God-fearing" man. Many people try to use religion this way, to fix their glaring moral character defects. Ramy is basically a sex addict and he is powerless to change that.
