As someone who has read the book and watched the movie, I find this movie incredibly offensive, the movie alone is great, with a great inspirational message, however it does not provide the same wisdom as the book. The book focuses on Dan, and his happiness, even when he became the best gymnast ever, he was no complete and wanted more, so he learned to ensure forever in the moment. This movie is not that story, this movie is about how his life is great and then he breaks his leg, and then Socrates helps him, provides some inspirational knowledge, and he becomes the champion. The book established that this was not important. It is also important to add that the movie, in ways structures it completely differently e.g the timing of his broken leg (halfway through the book). One last thing, Dan's life was not great before the accident or meeting Socrates (as the movie will have you believe).
In conclusion, the movie changed to much and now it's just another movie, it's no longer biographical, nor does it send the same message that the book did
