I watched this movie after reading all 6 of the dune books several times. Perhaps that is why I did not find it confusing or find it "too cerebral." I enjoyed the movie very much, so much I bought a copy for myself. I liked the casting, sets, music and technical expertise, which seemed ahead of its time. I'm a science-fiction geek. So sue me.

The first time I saw Star Trek, I was 12 years old, parked alone in the family room TV to see the very first broadcast of episode 1 of STTOS. I was hooked. I am now 71 and have spent a lifetime enjoying Star Trek. There isn't a series I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. I have had a difficult time understanding why it was singled out the way it was. I found it intriguing, complex and wonderfully unique. Thank you to all involved in this unique addition to the Star Trek universe.

I have enjoyed Agatha Christie's Poirot for decades. The most ridiculous casting of Brannagh was hilarious! 1. First of all, he is completely wrong physical type. 2. He has no idea how to do a French accent. 3. He may be a crackerjack Shakespearean actor but Poirot's character has completely escaped his notice. 4. This movie was so bad, I will not bother watching any of the others.
