I do feel really guilty for feeding this back because I do think everyone should watch it regardless to make up their own minds. The positive is that we can feel he’s poured his heart in it and for that I commend him. Feels like a really vulnerable movie, without wanting to gossip on his personal life, and the aesthetics are often breathtaking. It feels like a world I’d love to see for myself on a trip.
The issue with it is that I couldn’t understand the message behind it. Everything was done well, acting was great, story was pretty standard, main character is not a hero etc etc. But what’s the point? What are we trying to say? It was missing depth, or at least it was missing a depth that people can understand or relate to.
It didn’t match with the images, since those had a depth that was palpable.
So in the end it was hard to attach to most of the characters and care too much.
