Finally watched this after hearing about it a while back. When I heard it had an Eastern Bloc setting, I HAD to watch. I just finished a graphic novel version of the Scottish Play that I had originally started in 1997 with the SAME SETTING. I'm concerned because, since I finally finished the book (life got in the way for a few years, and then I had to do it on my spare time), I was afraid people would say "you just ripped the Patrick Stewart version off". As I said before, 1997, 10 years before this version was first staged. There, I have that off my chest.
I actually liked it for the most part. Some interesting interpretations, clever work, well acted. It actually gets close to my version a few times, but I can safely say my book is noticeably different. So a lot of the high school kids who wrote reviews(God knows how many years ago) would probably say the same about the book as they did this film. So it goes.
