Unwatchable. To take a book and try to stretch it out the way they did was sad. Instead of focussing on the spirit of the story and the characters, this giant troll dump of a trilogy focussed on squeezing every possible dollar out Tolkien's legacy. They should feel ashamed (but we know they don't.) The saddest part is, this is the best of Tolkien's books. By far, this trilogy is the worst. This is the equivalent to what star wars did with episode 1-2-3.

I kept hoping for an injection of humor. A laugh might have redeemed the aimless jumping from scene to scene with no story. The acting was as uninspiring as the dialogue. The cameos went nowhere. Perhaps you might enjoy this movie if you are a 25 year old pedophile woman who hooks up with a 15 year old boy (spoiler, that's the plot.) It's miraculous that rotten tomatoes seems to be the metric by which we judge movies when it's such a poor and dishonest gauge. This film scored 91.
