Absolutely wonderful movie with brilliant performances and a big heart. It captures the fragile but special bond of friendships and creative partnerships. As a lifelong Laurel & Hardy fan, I am relieved it is superbly crafted and treats its subjects with dignity and respect. Most Hollywood biopics go for lurid tabloid scandals; this one goes deeper into the human spirit. It's not as hilarious as a real Laurel & Hardy film (the sketches are amusing but not big laughs) and the storyline sometimes exaggerates personal conflicts (but tastefully). But the end result is charming and deeply touching. STAN & OLLIE succeeds as a warm tribute to the greatest comedy duo in movies. It is a classic.
