Funny film if one enjoys "black humor". Watching the characters trying to adjust to life in a French town is hilarious. One cannot take this film as a picture of real life; it is imagination only. I strongly urge parents to exercise caution in allowing any child to see this! The language is vulgar and obscene at time, but then so is life.

Hilarious, with over-the-top scenes. The bikini wax scene was truly one of the funniest scenes I have seen in my many years of viewing movies and TV. A stellar cast.

very enjoyable, but rather ponderous in part. Cynthia Nixon was superb in the lead role.

I love the novels and the subtle comedies of Jane Austen. This was a dreadful "adaptation" of Persuasion. If a novel is to be interpreted by the mores and customs of the present day, then give it a modern setting where multi-cultural and multi-ethnic customs are alive and well. This parody of English society during the Georgian period totally ignored the customs, mores, and attitudes prevailing at that time. What a sham of a movie.

Not just a good movie, it is a great movie. Funny, well-cast, excellent animation. Three cheers for the minions!
