[SPOILER WARNING]
I could go on and on about everything I loved about this movie but instead of a fifty page essay here is the “short and sweet” version of my thoughts:
I’ve been anticipating this movie for about 5 years now and as a diehard fan of the franchise I can say that this movie did not disappoint.
The theater experience was incredible, everyone laughed at the funny parts, everyone went dead silent at the scary parts, and people were on the edge of their seats during the intense parts. At the end everyone in the theater clapped… it was fantastic! I went with three of my friends and two of them didn’t know anything about the games so they were going In completely blind and guess what, they also loved it!
The story was amazing, the jump-scares were great and the nods and easter eggs were awesome! I feel like this movie was and incredible way on how to make murderous animatronics scary and terrifying yet also friendly at times. I loved the classic Living Tombstone song at the end as well as the MatPat and Cory Kenshin cameo. This movie is definitely one of my top five favorite horror movies. Would recommend it’s a much watch!
I’ve seen some complaints such as the story being all over the place or that it wasn’t accurate to the games in which I disagree with (also who wants to watch a two hour movie of Mike Schmidt sitting in an office and closing doors the whole time). For example I feel like the story was executed perfectly; it was laid out so newcomers and og fans could enjoy and understand it. I know this because as stated before my friends who know nothing about the games understood the movies plot. Of course there was some changes such as Vanessa (who is a new character) being William Afton’s daughter and the obvious one of Mike having a little sister that he took care of and a brother who was kidnapped. I feel like those new tropes worked out really well and it didn’t bother me because the creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) Scott Cawthon wrote the script and storyboard.
In my eyes this is masterpiece of a film. Just like the Super Mario Bros. Movie critics said it was bad when in reality it was executed extremely well so don’t listen to those tomato reviews.
love it or hate it please share your opinions, I’m curious to see what everyone thinks about the movie. Hope you enjoy it lots of love :)
