Grim old British film shot in London before all the old derelict riverside buildings were demolished which makes it an historicallly interesting record. The film used an opening segment of Tower Bridge road closed with not a car in sight which was either an arranged blocking or else may have been the lack of traffic in those days. The baddies rob a bank van full of sacks iof thick wads of money and then one of them buys a Ford Prefect for £195! Police cars feature Wolseley 6/110 with that Farina styling described as crisp which worked with bigger cars but not on the awful Austin 1100. These cars had difficulty catching an Austin J4 van down wet country roads after a chase on an empty M4.

Very interesting film of work loading ships in Hull. Made in 1950 and everything and complete way of life shown has totally disappeared. Ships were the trampsteamers with varying cargo for various ports. Shows how a foreman would choose a gang of men from all the hopefuls waiting for work at hiring office. If not chosen the unlucky men had a day of basic rate. The men all had the lined tired prematurely old faces from outdoor work in all weathers. Interesting to see fragile pottery lavatories loosely packed with a bit of straw. Well worth watching.
