Me and my friends watched this movie and we really enjoyed it! It's getting a ton of hate online, but I don't think it deserves any of it. It's a fun, action fantasy romp with a really cool dragon, and I would have been obsessed with this movie as a kid. I think it's a really great movie for young girls in particular (though not too young, it's pretty intense in places and scared some of the younger kids who were watching it with us) and it's very nice getting a female lead who does action stuff but also doesn't feel like she actively hates being feminine. She never has any obnoxious lines about how "Ugh, I just hate wearing a dress because it weighs me down and hinders my free spirit or whatever" (I actually love that she uses the corset busk as a tool throughout the movie) or "ugh, marriage is just a method that the patriarchy uses to keep women down" that I would expect in other, similar movies. She's just a girl who is nervous but excited about getting married, then gets thrown into a bad situation and gradually becomes more tough and capable as required by her circumstances. Sure, there are some minor plot gripes and a few "don't think about it too hard" conveniences, but it's a fun, entertaining romp that accomplishes what it sets out to do. I hope Millie Bobby Brown keeps doing movies like this and the Enola Holmes movies, because I think they're a lot of fun, and with better female leads than anything Disney's been cooking up lately
