This review section of this documentary shows exactly why it was necessary to make. Are there better documentaries about racism in the United States? Absolutely. I recommend Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America, LA 92, and many of the docs that all the streaming giants have been promoting recently. There are many documentaries about racism against black Americans that are made by black Americans. You should absolutely watch those.
But we all must be introduced to the extent of this system racism at some point, and sometimes that introduction is through a white privileged woman that you already are familiar with. And the amount of white people in this review section and those that are just general fans of Chelsea that have not come to terms with their white privilege or had these conversations yet... that's why this documentary was necessary to make.
I'm not a massive fan of Chelsea myself, and she's had a lot of missteps in her career. This is not one of them.
