I have 3 issues the length, the fact that we do not get to see Gordon's wife's reaction to Gordon and Sarah, and the bat smashing through the window and that is how batman chooses his design. I hate that Gordon's wife's name is Barbara but it is ok overall. I watched this when I was younger so rewatching it was a joy. I just think the film's biggest downfall is the length. If they had longer we could have seen more of the start of catwoman and her mistakes in early fight and more batman scenes and more of his mistakes in his early fights. We also could have seen Barbara's reaction to Gordon and Sarah. Overall a good film and enjoyable to watch dc always do well with these animated movies. Ultimately some of its issues are on the source material. But i believe the biggest issues are because of the length. I give the film 7.5 out of 10. I do out of 10 because it is more accurate than out of five on how I feel. I have to be fair though back in 2011 when this came out I would have given it a 9 out of 10. It is just now that I have seen such god tier movies from dc now like the Dark knight returns that I think the length destroys some key things I think the movie should highlight like the mistakes of characters in thier first year, like we do not see enough of them imo. It is worth a watch.

My only plot issues are that Freeze and Gregory decided to go after the police commissioner's daughter over a random person out of the 18 available women. Seems like a dumb way to cause more unnecessary attention. The second thing is that Gregory caused the whole final escape for Barbara by letting her get to the rig's surface. Because he did not sedate her while she was cuffed on one arm and then he did not sedate her again when he pinned her with Freeze. Other than that the film uses a different animation when using vehicles and the batwing in particular. It pulls you out of the movie because the vehicle animation is so different from the movies normal animation that is from the animated series, which is fantastic animation. The plot is strong for me overall though and I love the ending it is truely a Mr Freeze movie which is great imo. The ending is perfect for him. The plot is soo good that even with these issues I give it a 8.5 out of 10. I want to say it is better than Mask of the Phantasm as I personally prefer this movie. But these issues objectively make it that I cannot give it a better rating even if I prefer the movie to Mask of the Phantasm and it is my favourite out of the 2. Mask of the Phantasm just nailed it's animation and inclusion of characters and plots. But even though I like this movie more than Mask of the Phantasm it made more notable mistakes than Mask of the Phantasm. I think this movie was more risky than Mask of the Phantasm and in some ways it payed off but in others like the vehicle animation it killed its chances of being objectively better than Mask of the Phantasm. Loved this movie in the end though and I prefer it to Mask of the Phantasm and Mask of the Phantasm is a fantastic movie. Must watch this, Mask of the Phantasm and BTAS in your prefered order. It all is great.

9.0 out of 10 a must watch I watched this after season 1 and before season 2 as broadcast order. Great film I only remove the 1 point because I guessed the identity of the Phantasm straight away by the way the character was suddenly introduced. This major issue is only removing a little from the score because the movies journey to find out the phastasms identity is so good and leaves hurdles which made my double guess my correct guess at the start of the movie. The only other thing is that the public and criminals sudddenly believe Batman is killing after all 60 episodes of season 1 whenever the Phantasm has a smoke like mist around them and the Batman never has used that in BTAS. Those issues remove 1 point for me but honestly a fantastic film that has aged amazingly and the film looks so much more sharp and defined than the first season of BTAS. I was shocked to see the difference on batman and how his design is changed by the sharp animation and how defined he looks and this also shows in the enviroment. This film and BTAS looks better than a lot of shows now imo. Timeless classic and must see for any Batman fan.
