i went into this movie completely blind, i didn't even know what genre it is cause my sister just started watching it on the couch and i just join in. when the little girl got bit by the snake in the middle of no where, i thought "alright, so this is going to be a thriller drama where the mother have to race against time and everything else there to stop her, to get her daughter to a hospital. this should be interesting." but nope, turns out it was a horror (even though this is not scary in the slightest) thriller with supernatural elements.
i think the key here is exactly what genre of movie you want when you decided to watch this movie. if you wanted a horror movie on a cold dark night, you are going to be hella disappointed cause as i said, this movie is not scary at all. but as a drama that explores the journey of this mother dragged into this strange situation, i think the movie delivered in exploring her character and what would a normal person do if we got caught into it. no, we're not gonna be able to kill someone as easy as Bruce Willis in a Die Hard sequel, we will have emotional struggle that not everybody will be able to get through even if we know we have to do it.
there's no plot twist or anything so the ending is very predictable, hell im sure most people will be able to predict it by the time you hear what the premise of the movie is. but it was executed well enough.
as a horror, this is a 1/10. as a thriller drama, it's a 6/10 for me. passable, never too boring, and a good time.
