This takes me back. This was the book we used at NTSU in the early 80s. It's a big part of how I learned about Improvisation. I had the life changing pleasure of learning about these tunes from the authors; Dan Haerle and Rich Matteson. Once in a while Jack taught the class or sat in too. These are mostly contrafacts (new melodies built on existing chord changes) though there are some original songs also. Looks like some versions have a play-along CD. I'm sure these show up in iReal now too. Dan and Rich became life-long friends and I will always be in debt to them for their support and encouragement. This book brings back great memories.
