Sorely disappointed after the 2018 version was extremely good & showed appreciation to its loyal fans. This pays homage once again, but by the bucket load and truly destroys the movie.
The story continues exactly after the last one, and the director tries to be too clever by making humankind the monster (not Mr. Myers), Acting is average, the story is non existent. It just seems to be Mike travelling through the streets not hunting his victims, but going home to have a rest. Instead we get a convoluted story of the public becoming vigilantes and trying to turn the table and hunt Mr. Myers.
Loved the last movie, hated this one, editing felt choppy, dialogue was over the top and boring. Way to many clichés with people behaving way too stupid. The 2 best actors holding the last movie together, spent most of the time asleep in bed.
The flashbacks were a brilliant touch, but a pity they didn't filter them to feel old, instead they felt more like a quick recap to a TV show.
But it does have an absolutely killer opening scene where the fire department and Mr. Myers have a little dance together with axes, crowbars etc...
Overall the director needs to re-watch the original, comeback and provide a finale to the franchise with the stars on board. It deserves a decent story and a lot more tension, suspense followed up eventually with a killing spree where the mono-a-mono takes place.
This one just completely killed the Mr. Myers mystery and he never felt intimidating or scary. It also underused its main actors and became a love story to the fans by trying to use all the original B-movie cast to hold it together. Finally becoming just another long line of rushed, sequels cashing in & turning what should be a horror film, into an action film.
