This is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Everything about it was artistically sublime, from the art direction, the acting, the makeup and the absolutely sublime music. The movie suits the subject - a towering and larger-than-life talent. In a year when directors subjected us to bloated ego-driven films, I'm grateful to have experienced this movie.

Napoleon is one of the most compelling historical figures in the western world. Why, then, is this movie about as exciting as a history textbook? The movie covered so much time and so many aspects of his life that no part of the story had enough time or weight to engage us. We walked out and literally said, "Meh". It is visually interesting, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

Boring, pretentious, humorless piece of drivel. I see reviews that say it is funny. No one laughed in the theater when I saw it, but of course I walked out before it ended, so maybe there was a chuckle after I left. PLEASE don't waste your time or money on this movie.
