I heard about Ottoman Empire and their practice of forcibly taking Christian boys for their elite Janissary army. These boys were trained in strict camps to become professional army of the Sultan. This book follows the life of one of those boys who is taken but then manages to find his way back. There is romance throughout the book as well which I liked a lot. Overall well written book that will appeal to many I am sure. I would love to see a movie done on this topic as well.

This book is a heartfelt homage to the enduring echoes of the past that shape our present and future.

I liked how the story continued after the first book. Looking forward to the third book

This was a really nice end to the Mea Promissa Patria book series. I recommend highly to all who enjoy historical fiction with a bit of science fiction
