Brilliant portrayal of the Ottoman empire

Oh dear, some reasonable acting against a mediocre script, but it never really warms up. Expected more with all the hype. When are we going to get a really exciting series on British TV? We have the acting ability but fail miserably with production and direction. We need some lessons from our EU colleagues. It just feels like we have no ambitions

Sorry, poor casting and wooden acting let down this reasonable story line. On a positive note Issy Knopfler is one to watch for the future

I was looking forward to this series after the initial favourable reviews and 80M budget. But sorry guys this has been a major disappointment for me. Some of the sets are indeed fantastic, worthy of GOT or LOTR. But please, why do these people look so clean and bright as though they had just come out of a dressing room? So many TV productions fall into this trap and it really creates a false setting for the actors. I am sure the production has employed a fine set of actors but the script is very poor and direction is absent resulting in a production that looks artificial, failing to create a sense of tension or menace.
