It is a painful movie to watch!
I was recommended this movie by a friend and finally sat down to watch it. It makes you cry throughout the run. The character of Setsuko Yokokawa is so innocent and pure that it makes your heart melt. From the moment she is kept in dark about the death of her mother to protect her happiness and innocence till the time she confesses of knowing it all along, the movie takes you through a journey. A painful, harrowing, traumatic journey. There are a few moments of joy but you still feel the underlying melancholy of the hearts.
After all this I thought that she might make it and we can get back our loving, giggling and ever-smiling innocent setsuko back but she just slips into the dark oblivion of death breaking our hearts into a million pieces.
Even though you see it coming still nothing can prepare you for the blow and the trauma that her death causes.
I am writing this just to process my feelings about this movie and to be able to move on which i think is just not possible.
P.s. This world doesn't deserve angels like setsuko....<3
