El Camino did not have to be a movie. An hour-long prologue would have worked just as fine. It felt like the Gilligan did not have much to say about Jesse's post Walter-White life and hammed in a few cameos as filler. The cameos jam the first half, taking away from the thrill of Jesse's escape and his efforts at evading the cops. That kind of thing is great as a one-off episode but doesn't quite work for a movie. It also felt unnecessary, because barring from one returning character, the rest did not feel like they added much to Jesse's journey. The second half, when the plot finally moves is the best part of the movie.
All in all, it's a decent watch. But, there's a feeling we were better off leaving Jesse's fate to our own imagination.
