So much potential that was wasted by Bethesda. Being generous I'd give it a 7/10 as is. This game can easily be a 9/10 after a year or 2 of modders fixing it and making it what it always should have been. Feels like a jack of all trades but master of none kinda game, alot of good ideas that are hardly fleshed out
Cons:
Quests feel lackluster and bland.
Factions also feel shallow and bland.
Most NPCs are shallow with little back story or character development.
Not as bug filled as other Bethesda releases but still more bugs than most other studios (game breaking/quest breaking bugs are a staple).
Planet generation feels very restricted compared to some of the crazy stuff we have discovered IRL.
No Man's Sky managed to make planet generation and creature generation exciting with trillions of planets, no reason Bethesda couldn't make 100 systems interesting/unique.
Losing all the weapons and armor you spent 10's-100's of hours grinding for when you NG+ is an awful decision, if you want to feel like your starting over then start a new save or sell off your stuff (while it makes some sense in terms of how you move to NG+, it still doesn't excuse it)
Story is meh, has alot of potential but overall is forgettable and unremarkable.
No space station building/occupying.
No ground vehicles (seriously Bethesda, even a bike or hover board would've been sufficient).
Doing the light orb "puzzle" EVERY TIME you collect a power (idek what they were thinking. It isn't fun or enjoyable, there's no puzzle or anything difficult, just a waste of time and a deterrent from upgrading powers past base level).
Having to ask Vlad for the location of every temple 1 at a time is also a ridiculous hassle and time waste, especially since he gives you half of the temples immediately when skipping story in NG+
Space battles feel like a game of chicken, it's always just enemies coming head on and firing everything. No strategic movements or anything more than you would expect from a child.
Merchants have very little money requiring alot of waiting to refresh, most can only buy 1-5 weapons before needing a refresh. Amount the carry is so low there are some weapons I can't even sell.
Economy makes ZERO sense.
Pros:
Ship building is enjoyable (needs some work on console due to controls).
Fair amount of base weapons with alot of attachments for customization.
Good options for skills and character building.
Fast travel system allows for faster/easier quest completion.
There are a few fully fleshed out cities that are enjoyable and offer alot of stuff to get into (though not enough IMO).
Companion/crew systems are well done.
Combat feels nice with alot of different options to get the job done.
Outpost building is well done with alot of options to build a small settlement.
Overall I'm happy I got to play it on Gamepass instead of blowing $60+ on what will likely always be a meh game on console. Might be worth the money on PC with alot of mods. Definitely feels like 2 steps back from Skyrim or Fallout 4.
