I, too, have read all of the Tony Hillerman and Anne Hillerman books. The characters as portrayed in the books and in my imagination are not even close to this series' characters. The lead actor is great and I can accept him as Leaphorn. However, I am not impressed with the rest of the cast. The best way to watch this series is to accept it on its own merits and forget that these are supposed to be Hillerman characters.
