Oh boy this didn’t even stand up to the old miniseries. Kings stories work best when movies stay as close to the source material as possible. IT parts 1 & 2 are perfect examples. Part 1 worked well as it stayed close to the novel, part 2 sucked as it strayed. This version of Salems Lot shows you shouldn’t cut down Kings stories. This movie glossed over or left out important parts that added flesh to the bone, the acting was ridgid and you didn’t really learn enough to care about anyone. I am fearful for the future of the Dark Tower. If it doesn’t get the Game of Thrones treatment it is doomed to fail.

Stephen King returns to form with this entertaining story. No politics, no wokeness, just an engrossing horror story with characters that could be your next door neighbor. In this day when everyone seems to want to stake out a divisive position, King gave me what I look for entertainment, an escape from the horror story that our society has become. My only complaint is I wish it was much longer.

Stephen King once wrote that stories such as those he writes only work when the audience has suspended their disbelief in the subject matter. Here King would have us believe that there could be an government sanctioned organization that is willing to beat, torture and murder to reach its goals. All he accomplished here is provide anecdotes to fuel the social justice warriors who claim children suffer similar fates at the hands of the Trump administration. As another reviewer aptly stated, I buy my entertainment to escape the craziness in the world. I have no desire to have one sided political commentary injected into it. Be a fairer writer Mr King and if you feel the need to go political write both sides of the coin. By itself the book is typical King, whose works I have enjoyed over many decades. Unfortunately it stands in the shadow of his Twitter feed and public utterances about the current political climate, which diminishes his storytelling. Sad to see such an accomplished author fall into this trap.

Apparently no one at Disney felt it worthwhile to ask how Kevin Feige was able to pull off such a major accomplishment as the MCU when planning how to end this iconic series. This last trilogy is a disconnected mess which is essentially a poor retelling of Lucas' middle trilogy. One can tell there was no effort to create an overall arc that made any real sense. Some writer actually thought it would be a cool idea to use horses to attack a Star Destroyer. What can you say about that level of idiocy? Even the first three movies, which were kinda dull, created a universe with a beginning, middle, and end. It seems Disney has no idea how to handle the properties they've inherited and I fear what they are going to do to the X Men. But thankfully they upgraded Boyegas character from a confused buffoon to a confused general who spends his time in the movie looking like he has to fart while yelling REN! at the top of his lungs throughout the movie. This is the kind of movie you get when the studio bases its decisions on what social media demands to see.

Greatest science fiction saga since Star Trek first took off in the early 70s. The characters, the storylines, the attention to science are awe inspiring. I’m going to miss this series and hope that someone films the last three books. Speaking of which the tv show is probably the closest I’ve seen to a movie meticulously following the source material. Many thanks to these fine authors who hopefully somehow find a way to continue this excellent story

This is what you get when the director stays faithful to the source material instead of butchering it for the sake of wokeness. A stunning portrayal of a masterpiece of science fiction. The director deserves every accolade for both his vision and storytelling and bringing this novel faithfully to the big screen. The actors are all top notch. I suspect even non sci-fi fans will enjoy and and YAY!!! Just read that part 2 has been greenlit. See it. A truly triumphant return to moviemaking. PS. Anyone planning on adapting a Stephen King novel to the screen please see this movie first to see how it’s done.

There should be a law that only Frank Darabont should adapt Kings stories. Or maybe that Hollywood should be forbidden from even trying. King’s forte is creating characters that you relate to and care about. These writers and directors don’t seem to have a clue how to adapt them. One of the most touching parts in the book is when Tom Cullen gets sent west. The episode portraying this was an embarrassment. It is confounding as to why Hollywood would take best selling novel and decide not to adapt it as closely as the author wrote it. If you don’t think that’s possible you should read The Expanse novels then watch the shows. It can be done. Unless for some reason it’s a King story.
