Fantastic! This is the movie us fans have been waiting for for a long time. The monster action begins after the first few minutes and continues all of the way to the end. This film is not being given the credit it deserves from the critics; to be honest I wonder how many actually saw the movie before writing their review. I also wonder if any knew what this movie is. This is a Godzilla movie made by Godzilla fans for Godzilla fans. This movie was clearly influenced by movies and even graphic novels which came before it. The writers took a lot of care to have the focus of the movie on the stars, the monsters, with enough of a human element to keep the movie flowing. Folks looking for a deeper human story...umm you do realize you are talking about a Godzilla movie? Also, folks complaining about no explanation about new weapons or as one critic put it, "outer space really". This after claiming to be a Godzilla fan of 30+ years. Without spoiling anything if I ask a Godzilla fan which creatures are from outer space they will know immediately. So it's no surprise that the writers, being fans themselves, probably felt going into detail about things, which are common to the Godzilla universe, would distract from the movie and disrupt the pace. For the criticism about the cgi, don't listen it is awesome. It is not too dark. Fights happen at night, in the water and during storms; all of which are not bright and sunny. There is one scene where something completely unnatural occurs. That being said how can someone be critical of something that has never been seen in the natural world, and there is nothing to compare it to. When you see the movie you will know which scene I am referring to. Hmm again I wonder what exacting are the critics watching or looking to compare it to. Not every movie, although popular now, can be a docudrama with a compelling story of personal sacrifice. This is a monster movie. The monster action is great. There is a good story, with lessons to be learned like in the prior movies. Think Hedorah for this one. The monsters are all very unique with very different personalities. Mothra for example, at one point of the movie, realizes as tough as it is; there is really only one possible solution to the situation they are in. She then makes a decision which alters the fortunes of the monsters. I think some of the critics are looking at this wonderful human cast and are expecting more from them. What they are forgetting and missing is the humans are the supporting cast; the stars are the titans. Michael Dougherty, thank you for making a movie that fans of Godzilla have been waiting for. Please keep making them. I am going to see this movie again. If you liked 2014, kong skull island, shin, or even Pacific rim, you are going to love this. This is the best by far!
