This film was not what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised and entranced the entire way to the end.
It was dark with a twist of both fantasy, old world lore and pragmatism. How the director managed to twist all of it into an unhurried yet enthralling story blew me away.
Peeling your eyes away may be difficult to some. Although it is in another language, I found myself following along with the story watching the imagery alone.
Artful and paced beautifully, I could have watched 9 seasons of this shapeshifter live hundreds of lives more.
The ending is satisfying and melancholy.
If you love thrasher movies, this isn’t for you. This has a frightening realism of a primitive time past. It will make you wonder if the next wolf, hawk, man or child is a centuries old shapeshifting witch living inside a corpse. This is not masquerading as a horror movie - it’s savagery, cruelty and trepidation. No one, (of this time and age and civilized world), has experienced anything close to the slow burning hell fires of what is imagined in this film.
