We plodded through E1 + E2 and began to watch E3, but decided not to spend time on eight languishing episodes of Dr Death, due to poor screenwriting, dull cinematography, sub-par direction.
Joshua Jackson performed his bit extremely well and created a subtle and believable character; despite working under the constraints of a lackluster overall production set and incoherent direction.
Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater were casted to draw in viewers, but lacked any on-screen chemistry. The underacting and overacting combination of both seasoned actors appeared due to bad lines and vapory cutaways.
This true crime story is about a maniacal sociopath; yet, the directors permitted a pile-on of text book rationales for a killing/maiming rampage against real-life patients.
Overall: Too many inexperienced directors circling a poorly edited script which lacked sufficient attention to evolving its narrative, instead opting for uneven pacing and cinematic tricks.
Note to producers: Budget properly. Hire experienced screenwriters, directors and cinematographers to provide a highly-seasoned cast with a decent foundation for their performances. Plus 2 stars for casting. Minus 3 for everything else.
