There were highs and lows to the sequel "A Wise Man's Fear."
We continue Kvothe's narrated story where it left off, he continues his University studies with Elodin, Kilvin, Sim et al. During his studies he has a sojourn to Severen where he gains the trust of Maer Lerand Alveron in a riveting way.
There are elements of his story which are skirted over such as the ship wreck en route to Severen and the trial which leads to Kvothe having to take a break from the university. These are referred later in his story as quite impactful (such as him being alive despite the ship wreck where everyone presumes him dead).
Also the pacing of the story is off in places and there's several chapters in the book with Kvothe venturing into the fae plane of existence with Felurian. Guess what, the majority of these chapters are full of purile sexual encounters between the two of them.
Not as good as "The Name of the Wind" unfortunately.
