Angelina is back, and she delivered in this film. The storyline however lacks meat and got scorched by the infernal mess. It seemed to focus on the impact of the smouldering scenes & unbelievable stunts and negated a sense of realism. Angelina running faster than the demonic fire without choking in its flames makes for a superhero effect; a car hurtling down like a tossed toy several hundred feet without exploding makes you think the film is saving all the fiery excitement for the other scenes. The bad guys’ characters were just that, they’re the bad guys. No time invested to tell the audience why the guys seem overpassionate about being the bad guys other than it was a job. The pregnant wife, while one cheers her on, was a superhero too, climbing up that tower in her gloriously-advanced maternal state. The boy’s character was superficially presented, lobbed up in his contorted expression of nonpalpable fear. I saw an acting, I didn’t feel the acting though. Audiences need to feel the characters’ emotions, not just watch them.
Over all an engaging film worth the watch.
