I think the writers missed a great opportunity. He could have told Molly what her father had done. Her other brother could have been killed leaving Molly to handle her fathers empire. Ray and Molly marries and then Ray becomes mayor. They bring honesty to the city and help the Donovan family. Ray would know how to keep things in order. The writers could do another movie where the last movie was just a bad dream.
