Don't bother! Well I had high hopes for this. A sword and sandals epic starring Anthony Hopkins... So how bad could it possibly be? Well very, as it turns out. Chintzy script and with acting to match. Dreadful direction with scene and character all over the show. Awful production values. Historical accuracy? Don't make me laugh. A total pig's ear from the get-go. Utterly juvenile though ironically not one for the kiddies since it's far too racy for that. Blimey. What an utter disappointment!

Emily the lowlife. A girl with a lousy attitude becomes embroiled in thieving from John and Jane Q citizen. The film is directed to have us empathising with her in some way. Yeah. Right. I disliked her intensely and was rooting against her from the get-go. Banal stuff. I hated it.

I only made it halfway through. The F bomb dropped once or twice in every sentence throughout the film. Aside those with an vocabulary of 80 words, who actually talks like that?? An this coming from an ex-soldier. For me, it ruined both script and movie. Avoid.

Utter, utter nonsensical tosh. How in God's name anyone came to read this script and think it worthy of assembling such a stellar cast is genuinely beyond me since while I'm sure there has been a time when I've been so underwhelmed by a film...I really can't remember when it was. If I can manage to save two and a half hours of someone's life in writing this...then it will have been worth it and I will have done my good deed for the day. And if however you do decide to watch it? Just be aware... The Emperor is wearing no clothes.
