The film captures everything you would want from a realistic, no-nonsence, brilliant scene-by-scene true story of the Harvey Weinstein saga and the female journalists who painstakenly were able to right the wrongs of him and his methods that protected him over decades. So much to savour. The good-guys at the paper eventually ensnare the pathetic, brutal and wretched beast that ran amok at Miramax by gleaning the names of female victims, offences committed, hush-money payments. It will no doubt reflect similar past, present and future events in establishments, firms, institutions around the world. Entrapment, fear, a career in film making in return for sex and above all confidentiality agreements to silence his sorded reputation were the primary weapons. Using and abusing his power, aided and abetted by his legal department on victims who simply wanted to make the most of their chosen careers but then find they have a difficult choice to make - and it will haunt them for the rest of their lives whichever choice they happen to make. A cleverly made film that flows majestically to hold your interest and capture the telling moments to advance and build the case against Weinstein. Every actor is seriously on message with their facial expressions, script, as camera follows their deliberate moves and piece together the facts which finally make the newspaper article. If you liked All The Presidents Men about the Watergate scandal you will like this. No sign of Weinstein as this proved unnecessary. Just his voice 'actual voice' that threatened, intimidated, and tried so hard to keep his terrified prey away from the law. The whole story is a reality check for male and female alike on how power can potentially keep a strangle-hold on our lives and careers.
