*Spoilers*
The actors were brilliantly chosen and the cinematography is beyond stunning. However, I found this movie rather underwhelming. I would not consider it a "comedy” since there was certainly a lack of it.
From my perspective, it was confusing and almost pointless, with little to no plot during most of it. There is no understanding of the main character’s line of thought, or at least I did not understand it, and considering he was a psychopath, not understanding is ok, but it could have had an explanation of his traumas and reasons for his actions besides just going into school and not feeling welcomed for the first couple of days. That just seems like a weak and predictable argument that a million terrible movies have used before. His behavior is unjustifiable, but for the sake of the movie, there should have been a little more plot to make it bearable/believable. If the objective was to make the character interesting because the audience would have not expected he was out of his mind, then it failed miserably. It is so obvious since the start of the movie that he is quite insane, even though with some scenes, I totally thought it was going to be a romanticized version of a serial killer being "in love" kind of movie, which was very confusing and the only non predictable part. Some of the "shock" scenes were strange, but quite uninteresting since there was no back story line to them. The scenes went from disturbing to distasteful and even raunchy because it was for nothing, no reason behind them, to achieve literally nothing, besides solely making the viewer uncomfortable.
What was he trying to get from all of the nonsensical actions throughout the movie, considering he was not part of the family? What was his goal? Did he expect them to magically love him enough to add him to a will and keep everything they owned? Which I am not even sure if that is what happened because there’s so much left out with little to none explanation. The ending was so unrealistic. Nobody ever investigated the reasons for everyone’s death? There was no autopsy or investigations given the circumstances of some of those deaths? Give me a break. It was more like a science fiction.
Just another cinematic disaster.
