Ok I went into this with a strong negative bias. But much like a group of level one adventurers chasing Kobolds into their lair my expectations were shattered.
This may infact be the first case of Hollywood and writers being familiar with, and actualy daring to consume source material.
Names, Locations, and Creatures were actualy handled spot on. Not to mention they handled the concept of show dont tell tremendously well. Once backstories and motivations were properly set. Also they coriographed fight scenes so well and in such a slapstick manor with the exception of a certain npc, that I thought it could have been a group at the local game shop.
Finally the concept that this was a fantasy world and not just a reskin of LOTR was phanominal. Because they took The Sword Coast and what we saw of Ferune and went nuts! Needless to say I and my friend group loved it.
