A truly remarkable and breath taking account of the most photographed war in history, having been born in 1960 and sitting though the every episode of the 'World in Action' and 'Panorama' from 1967 onward's this series helped me come to terms to what my young mind was being subject to at that time. It helped me understand the political landscape leading up to the conflict, how the Americans got slowly drawn into this war and the reasons why this war could never have been won.
The most remarkable fact for me was the naivety of the senior politicians in charge during this conflict who totally missed the fact that the more aggressive the Americans became, the more resolve this gave the non-communist people of Vietnam to fight against the 'invaders' of their country. If this had been realised in 1965, tens of thousands of American lives could have been saved.
