As a great fan of Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleason and a great admirer of Martin McDonagh (In Bruges and Three Billboards in my top 10) I looked forward with much anticipation to seeing this movie. What a disappointment! On the plus side was the cinematography portraying the stark beauty and poverty of the location. Also, as expected, the performance of the two principals was excellent. However, for me, the storyline and script were so implausible as to undermine any credibility. This was underscored by the cast of characters or, more accurately, caricatures including the village idiot, the old crone etc. Allegorical for some, and I can understand it’s appeal to the Hollywood set, but not for me.
