Well written and a good mix of characters. A strong story line which coped well with past and present. But....the pub fig tree said it was dying because the heat of one summer killed the fruit bats which fed on invasive insects and then pollinated the tree. The branch that was cut off the tree smuggled to and planted in England said it would survive because its genetically self pollinating. This contradiction spoiled a good tale for me. .
