Like most sequels of successful Bollywood films, Gadar2 ran high on expectations. But we must understand that the world , the country and audience preferences have changed in the past 22 years. Today the audience expects dialogues and characters that can be related to, emotions that appear real and spontaneous , less song/ dance sequences and to top it with advanced film making capability of our times.
In terms of acting or the overall treatment of the movie frank it had nothing new to offer. Gadar in 2001 had a novel storyline which kept in times with the content audiences would typically want to see. Fast forward to 2023, the. audience would not have the patience to sit through 3+ hours of drinking old wine in a new bottle. The movie was slow paced with nothing really new to offer in terms of action sequences , performances and overall cinematic experience. A border town truck driver living in a decorated bungalow in 70s India is way over the top
In terms of characters Utkarsh shows promise, perhaps more detailing and storyline around him would have been good. While Amisha does not seem aged, there was no opportunity for her to display emotions. The character of Major General Hamid was portrayed very well. In summary, the entire storyline centres around Tara Singh and Sunny Paaji left no stone unturned in putting up a stellar performance
