My perspective is a guy watching the series after having read the the whole series several times over my life. I loved the books, not so much the series.
My largest complaint is that the Dragon Reborn has been pretty much relegated to a supporting character, and the protagonists might as well be Egwene and Nynaeve. Point of fact I would estimate that the Dragon Reborn maybe got 20% of the screen time, and he wasn't really as memorable as any other character.
Sorry state for the protagonist.
The books described a world in which both men and women are powerful and relevant. The screenplay is obviously written by a cabal of man hating feminists that don't even play lip service to Robert Jordan's original vision. Try watching the last episode of season 2. After Egwene and Moraine did their long bit with their awesome fight scenes, Rand walks up and stabs Ishmael. Yay the end, everyone starts chanting the Dragon Reborn... Right
Not to mention they tried to fit the first book of the series into 8 episodes.
They spent a bunch on special effects though, that was awesome.
