Vivien Unwin

Historically an interesting novel with insufficiently developed characters, particularly Tori, who seemed very cardboard cut out to me. The episode in the maternity unit picked up the pace and was quite emotionally gripping. I particularly disliked the use of the word ‘passed’ instead of dead and the number of times this was used. I found the style, at times, somewhat stilted and felt that the present day sections dragged and were relatively boring.
